Sarker Tanvir Ahmed, a Bangladeshi Changemaker and founder of Youth Parliament has been officially invited by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to attend their “Shout Out to Changemakers” meeting on May 24, 2023. The meeting is being held to mark two years of implementation of the “I Say Yes to Youth in Parliament!” campaign, which aims to increase the number of young people in parliament.

In a letter addressed from the IPU Secretary General Martin Chungong expressed his pleasure in inviting them to the meeting and thanked them for their commitment to youth empowerment. The letter noted that over 1,300 changemakers, including parliamentarians, Speakers of Parliament, and other international leaders, have signed up for the campaign since its launch in April 2021.

The meeting will be held online on Zoom, which will provide an opportunity for changemakers to take stock of the progress made, exchange success stories, and consolidate good practices in the implementation of campaign pledges. Participants will include parliamentarians, other political leaders, members of civil society, youth activists, and more.

“I am honored to have been invited to the ‘Shout Out to Changemakers’ meeting and to be part of this important campaign,” said Sarker Tanvir Ahmed. “As a youth leader, I am committed to promoting youth empowerment and democratic participation, and I look forward to sharing my experiences and learning from other changemakers.”

Tanvir Ahmed, who established a Youth Parliament starts from Bangladesh in 2018, has been working to provide training, mentorship, and networking opportunities for young leaders in Bangladesh, South Asian, D-8 countries and beyond. Their invitation to attend the IPU meeting is a recognition of their commitment to promoting youth leadership and democratic participation.
